Mitochondrial and metabolic

MOTS-c Lyophilised Peptide

MOTS-c is a 16-residue peptide encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It is classed as a mitochondrial-derived peptide and has been studied in cell and rodent models of metabolism, exercise and ageing. MOTS-c is supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial, in 10 mg and 40 mg sizes, priced RM 150–330. No certificate of analysis has been published for the batch on sale yet, so no purity figure is claimed on this page. Ships within 2 working days of payment. Sold for laboratory research use only, not for human or veterinary use.

What research says about MOTS-c

MOTS-c is a 16-residue peptide encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene. It is classed as a mitochondrial-derived peptide and has been studied in cell and rodent models of metabolism, exercise and ageing.

In cells it inhibits the folate cycle and de novo purine biosynthesis, leading to AMPK activation (Lee 2015), and it translocates to the nucleus under metabolic stress to regulate nuclear gene expression (Kim 2018).

Preclinical and early clinical: ClinicalTrials.gov lists a completed phase 1a/1b study of the MOTS-c-derived candidate CB4211 (NCT03998514, CohBar) and a recruiting phase 2 study of MOTS-c (NCT07505745); no marketing authorisation was identified.
